Senior Fellowship and Meal

 

We welcome anybody 55 and older to join us most Fridays for the Senior Fellowship and Meal. No reservations are necessary for dine-in service, and the suggested price is $4. 

 

Where: St. John’s UCC, Family Life Center, 516 North Colorado

When: Fellowship and games from 10 a.m. until noon

Bingo at 11 a.m.

Lunch is served at noon

July 12: Fried fish, mac-n-cheese, cole slaw, hush puppies (catering by The Cannery, with volunteers from Zion Lutheran Church)

July 19: Pork loin, wild rice, broccoli with cheese (catering by Cindy and Madeline, with volunteers from Greenvine Emmanuel Lutheran Church)

July 26: Tater tot casserole, English peas, rolls (catering by White Horse Tavern, with volunteers from St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg)

 

August 2: Rosemary chicken, buttered noodles, baby spinach and strawberry salad (catering by Cindy and Madeline, with volunteers from Greenvine Baptist Church)

August 9: Sour cream chicken enchiladas, Mexican corn (catering by On Deck, with volunteers from St. John’s United Church of Christ)

August 16: Fried chicken, baked beans, vegetables (chicken catered by Brookshire Bros., with volunteers from Zion Lutheran Church)

August 23: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls (catering by Madeline and Cindy, with volunteers from Greenvine Emmanuel Lutheran Church)

August 30: No meal (Labor Day holiday).

 

Sept. 6: Cowboy Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread (catering by White Horse Tavern, with volunteers from St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg)

 

If you want a “to go” meal, call 979-337-3370 by Tuesday. We suggest you arrive at 12:10 p.m. to pick up your meal.

 

If you’re 55+ or have health issues that require you to stay home, let one of our volunteers deliver a hot meal to you each Friday at no charge. Our delivery area is limited to Burton. Call the Bridge office, 979-337-3370, for more information. If you will not be home to receive your meal, call Lois Mooney at 979-421-0617 or tell your driver.

 

We’re looking for relief drivers to help out when our regular drivers are unable to make deliveries.

 

New! BVFB’s Senior Outreach Program Comes to Burton

 

For senior citizens ages 65 and older who earn $27,861 or less per year*, help is on the way when it comes to putting nutritious food on the table. 

 

Bridge Ministry of Burton Texas is partnering with the Brazos Valley Food Bank to bring their Senior Outreach Program to Burton. Each week, participating seniors will receive a bag of food that contains (for example) one serving of oatmeal, two juices, one serving of cereal, two milks, two fruits, two vegetables, one nutritional shake, two proteins, one pudding, and two easy-to-prepare meals (like soup or Easy Mac n Cheese). There is no cost to participate in this free program.

* Couples can earn up to $37,814 per year to be eligible for this program.
